Monday was Consolidation Day 108 π
Today’s Weight: 146
Goal Weight: 155
Still lovin’ that π
Back to work in Hangzhou. Kind of a frustrating day. Went to the bank to make a deposit and they wouldn’t let me because I didn’t have my passport… to make a deposit… sigh. Then I went to the post office to ship off the last 4 boxes to the States and the guy went through all my stuff to make sure it was packed well enough to not break anything and DROPS the package with my Chinese china!!!! Breathe IN, Breathe OUT… I flew off the handle… I couldn’t help it… I am not perfect, I threw a tantrum. They quickly finished me up, I apologized a million times to my driver, Jerry, who is the most patient person in the world (besides Kitty)… he smoothed things over and got me the hell out of there before, well before I got into trouble!

My granddaughter Sadie represents the 3rd generation of epic tantrum throwers π
My daughter Jenni, however, was the Queen of them!
Then back to work where I managed to upset the apple cart by providing a not so glowing audit about hand washing that had the doctors doing better than the nurses. I was on a roll!
Went home and had me some dinner and felt better π I also am tutoring a Chinese midwife in Medical English and passing the NCLEX-RN exam. So we worked on that last night.
Sunday I got in a 5K run in under 40 minutes after not running for 9 days due to my bout of food poisoning, but I pushed myself and did it… which makes me feel so good π I then went up to my flat and did 30 minutes of stretching, yoga and exercise bands. I have SO much energy when I’m done running… it’s amazing!
I also got a few pictures from Rose, my personal assistant in Guangzhou from my multiple stays there this past 5 months. Here’s a couple I want to share:
I’ve been saying that I haven’t felt like I accomplished much in the past year. Maybe I set my expectations too high for myself… I’m a perfectionist. But when I look at these pictures I do realize that I’ve accomplished quite a bit. The hospitals keep referring to me as their International Water Birth Expert… and I’ve come to realize, I really am! I mean who better to be called that than someone who has delivered hundreds of babies in the water (all over the world, including on 4 continents!) and has taught water birth all over the world? The 5 hospitals here in China that I’ve done the water birth trainings in have collectively performed over 100 water births in the past year! I am proud of their accomplishments and that the midwives and doctors at these 5 hospitals have accepted water birth as a “normal” way for women to deliver their babies. And delighted for the women and babies who have experienced this amazing way of birthing!
Breakfast: 2 slices of bacon and 2 tea eggs
Snack: FF Greek yogurt with Splenda and flaxseed meal
Lunch: 3 ham slices with 3 slices of Pepper Jack cheddar… Mmmm!!
Dinner: Stir-fry pork with onions and asparagus (cooked in coconut oil).
Snack: Beef jerky… eeek that out a couple little pieces at a time to make it stretch (thanks, Suzanne for bringing me the 3 bags!!) ** Kira… Titters LOVES jerky!
I hope everyone is having a great week! I have 23 days until I fly home… for good… or for now… LOL
What type of exercise or movement did you do on Monday??
Ciao!
ah sandi! we are the same, always setting goals that are sometimes a little high in the sky! Nothing drives you more than personal standards…As for exercise, I did a 1.5 hr karate class yesterday that has my hips/ bottom really sore this morning. With a face like a ripe watermelon, and my GI wringing in sweat, i figure it was a good work out!!
Sorry – I should also add that you have achieved a HUGE amount in China, both personally + professionally! Remember those first Audits you did when I came out. Holy smokes!
Good point and you and I are very much the same… High expectations for everyone and especially ourselves! Keep up the awesome karate lessons! I’m somproudnof you xoxo
you should be very proud to bring water birthing to china!!
I totally am… Would have liked to have accomplished a little more, but maybe I’ll come back and guest teach π
Hi Sandi, I think you have accomplished loads this last year professionally, fitness and of course your amazing weight loss! Love the photo’s of your training-fab! Yesterday I walked to a friend briskly that took 45 minutes to pick up my car from the night before- it cleared the head lol! We are off to Cornwall to surf for 4 days tomorrow, fab exercise in the freezing cold, wild Atlantic sea!
Thanks, Meg π
Surfing sounds awesome but FREEZING!!! Have a fab trip, I look forward to pics on Facebook!
You were saying the other day you were hoping you could carry on with setting boundaries /saying no when you go home– Looks like God is giving you practice and success now.
Yeah, I might have gone a tad overboard atbthe post office π
It’s family and friends I have a hard time saying no to… But I’m committed to working on that π
You sound like one accomplished lady to me!! thanks for posting your meals, it helps to see what you are eating…quantities? Am contemplating Dukan, according to the calculator, I should weigh 145, I had put in a goal of 140. That means I need to lose 12 #. Not earth shattering…What did you eat in the Attack Phase, the calculator says only two days for that phase for me…doesn’t seem like much. I think I will order the book.
Cindy… This link will take you to my first two weeks, https://flamidwyfe.wordpress.com/2011/08/21/i-can-ducan-t-1-and-counting/
I did 9 days of attack becauseninhad 100 pounds to lose π But you can get an idea from the menu what PP days look like. The wonderful thing about Dukan is that if you only eat the allowed foods, you can eat as much as you want!
Cindy… I highly recommend buying the book if you’re going to do the diet. I have mine downloaded on my iPhone and iPad.
Don’t recall you ever having a temper tantrum. You were the most mild manner of the four. π
I’ve made up for it in my adulthood π I love you, Mom xoxo
Hi there. I was wondering if it was possible for a woman who has had a csection to ever deliver vaginally? I know policy here in the U.S but was just curious. What you do looks amazing, I wish I could experience it with my next pregnancy.
Hi Ana… yes, lots of women that have had previous c/sections have vaginal births afterwards. Even in the States. There is an awesome group ICAN that can lead you to obstetric practitioners that respect a woman’s right to have a vaginal birth after cesarean.
In the States I delivered a couple dozen VBACs over the years. In Abu Dhabi, in 2010, I had 27 women come into labor with a prev. c/s and all 27 delivered vaginally π That is possibly one of my favorite statistics!
Here in China I did a VBAC water birth a couple of months ago… so it is definitely possible!
Best wishes π
Haha. What a jerk. He likes carbs a lot. Maybe you’ve shown him the Dukan lifestyle and he’s off of cereal π
Lol. Well he’s off wet food! And he loves chicken, pork and jerky!
Of course he loves chicken. π
