Running, blog stats and random stuff

I’ve had a pretty exciting week from a personal perspective. I set two personal records running in the past 3 days. The first was my fastest run at 8:26 avg. min/km or 13:34 avg. min/mile. This is a full 1 minute per mile LESS than before I had my surgery in May! The second was that I ran more miles in July than any previous month! Below is my RunKeeper stats…

The brick color is walking, the green is running and the purple is hiking.

I’ve either walked, ran or hiked 544 kilometers since March. That’s 338 miles 🙂 Woot!

Another awesome thing that happened this week is that at some point I reached 50,000 hits on my blog! And I’ve logged nearly 3500 comments! It makes me so happy that so many people have stopped by. I started regularly writing this blog in August to share my journey with family and friends and it has become so much more and that makes my heart swell with happiness!

And that leads to the awesomest things that have happened this week. Actually it happened today… 4 people that I personally know, all of us on 4 different continents, contacted me today (yesterday for some of you) to tell me they are starting the Dukan because they want to be healthier and they’ve seen my success. All 4 have read my blog and I only knew that one of them was. I wish all 4 of you luck!!! I know you will succeed because I know all of you put your mind to something and accomplish it! 4 amazing women… starting on this journey… Good luck and remember that I’m here if you need anything!

I’ll finish by saying that August brings in the last month of summer. It also signals that I have 51 days left in China. I can’t believe I’ve been here nearly a year already! I get one more trip to Guangzhou where I get to hang with my Int’l crew down there, Rose, Jenny, Liza and Dianna. And get to mentor a friend from the Middle East, Aisha! And then back to Hangzhou to finish out my contract… I’m going to miss my ViviMokaLaka so much! She’s the one that brought me here in the first place. I’m going to try to take as many photos as possible in the next 7 weeks.

But I miss home and my kids and my grandkids and my mom and my family and my friends and the beautiful sunrise over the Roosevelt Bridge first thing in the morning. And there’s no place like home. I’ve had a fun 4 years living abroad 🙂 But on to new projects and fixing up my AirStream!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday!

Ciao!

  1. Yay you…fantastic results on both the Dukan and exercising. I have started using the Nike app..have ran or walked 20.16 kms in a week. For someone who has sat on their butt for over 18 months and hasn’t even gone to work this for me is nothing short of a miracle! Trying to make my poor tired legs get up those stairs and do the next day of C25K but just not sure i can do it…if not there is always tomorrow 🙂 I am proud for you of your achievements! Inspiring totally 🙂

    • Caroline… the fact that you even get out there in that HEAT is amazing! I bitch and moan that it’s 32 C here! 20.16 kms in a week is awesome!! The running will cheer you up, having sat around waiting for stupid HAAD to license you!
Thanks for your support! I’m behind you 100%, as well! 🙂
p.s. congrats to Team GB on their gold medal today!

      • HOO, you and the gals are SO ahead of me!!! 54 weeks? yikes that sounds so much closer than a year 😉 I’ve was lightly sidelined last week w/ the thigh/hip thing from the kettlebells but have been back this week…took a nice evening run last night…good temps, not too hot.

  2. Woo hoo…I’m sooooooo excited about coming to work with you before you leave the Eastern Hemisphere! I am so blessed for the opportunity! I’m counting the days and totally stoked!

      • Not here in China… I’ll be moving back to the States in September and will run them then. I contacted a trainer while I was home on vacation in June about helping me train for my first triathlon… which will be next August (a year from now) in Wisconsin with 3 fellow bloggers that I met through my blog 🙂
I’m signed up for a color run with a team of midwives in Miami, right after I move home and I’m suppose to do a Run For Your Life in November, but I haven’t trained at all for obstacles… although it might be fun getting all muddy!

      • Color runs looks like so much fun, but they don’t run in the UK, and the one in Houston that I thought was a possibility is the week after my trip there this year!

What triathlon distance are you going for? I was going to try and get into them after this year’s running commitments are finished with, as I’d love to do a half ironman (a full one might actually kill me)!

  3. Outstanding! I have to figure out how to post Excel charts… Be safe on your last 7 weeks. If that Airstream ever makes it into Lousiana, let me know…

  4. So happy for your running success. I remember your first starts. Starting to run to the rain and then you started a program. What was the name of it. ?
The point of this is; it started with a single step. Good job kiddo.

    • Thanks, Kath 🙂 The program was Couch to 5 K or C25K… I cried my way through the first 4 weeks, in he cold rain. I’d give a hundred bucks for it to be cooler and raining at this point…

  5. Yippy yea, I am so proud of you!!!! I cannot run that fast.
So, is there a Dukan diet book, or how does one do that? You really are an inspiration to me, too.

    • There is a book. Or if you have a iPad, iPhone or smartphone you can download that. I have the electronic version (cheaper than the paper version and I take it everywhere with me on my iPhone).

They have a web site, as well. And of course there are tons of sites out there (like mine) with information.

The increase in my running speed has occurred on its own. I actually want to do the target HR training as soon as I get the Garmin.
