Dukan – Day 184 – Six months in and Feeling Awesome!

Sunday was a PV day.

Daily Weight Loss: 0.4 lb/0.20 kg
Total Weight Loss: 70.9 lb/32.21 kg

So it was six months ago today that I began my Dukan Diet journey. And I can’t begin to tell you how happy I am that I did! By sticking to this diet and by not straying (with the exception of a rare few times) I have managed to nearly lose 71 pounds in 6 months. I feel GREAT! Great doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel. My knees don’t hurt. I bound up and down the stairs at work. I use the stairs everywhere I go (like in the Shanghai subway yesterday). I walk 1 mile to work, clock in and take the stairs to the 4th floor. In August, I would have been winded before getting to the 2nd floor. Now… no problem!

Yesterday I woke up early, caught a ride to the train station and spent the day in Shanghai. It’s a 42 minute bullet train ride and worth it. I had lunch with Federica and Will and did a little shopping. Picked up a couple of pair of jeans (one size 12, one size 14) and then coffee with them and the trip back. Makes for a long day. Makes for a short night of sleep, but through the yawns this morning I feel as if it was worth it. Worth it for my mental health and worth it to get a couple of pairs of jeans in normal size for a bargain 🙂

Speaking of jeans… I promised before and after butt pics. This first picture was what really made me realize I needed to do something immediately about my weight. This is at my 30th Class Reunion in August 2011, a couple of weeks before I started the Dukan Diet… I’m in the purple sweater… Good Lord!

Oh My!

And this was this morning… We took a couple of shots from a distance but because I’m wearing all black, they just didn’t show anything. Vivien insists I use this one… it’s a close up, but I’m loving my waist definition. And… in the pic above my hips were 56″ (cringe)… they are now 44″… that’s TWELVE INCHES LESS! And my waist has gone from 45 1/2 inches to 35 1/2 inches… TEN INCHES LESS… All I can do is 😀 So here’s my close up… LOL…

Dukan Diet = Smaller ass and waist 🙂

I have received so much encouragement from family, friends and fellow bloggers that I am amazed and humbled on a daily basis. It really is what has pushed me to continue down this amazing path of wellness.

Again… thanks for all the encouragement and for those of you on this journey… YOU CAN DO IT!

Ciao!

  1. Nice ass!!! Girl, you are rockin’ them jeans!!! So impressed. I can’t even tell you how many people I’ve told about your amazing accomplishment and then of course, they all ask, “how’s she doing it?” I tell them, Dukan. Bet it’s being Googled ALOT. So proud of you!

  2. That is the picture you promised months ago!!! But the timing is perfect.

A six month review (or do I mean view). Great work, what a great way to show what you have been working on. Good job friend.

  3. Congratulations on all you have accomplished -very impressive! I’d never heard of the Dukan diet, but just googled it and it sounds good. Lean protein, lots of fiber and veg. Great stuff! It IS wonderful to weigh less, however you get there – I have to agree with that!

    • The Dukan Diet is relatively new to the U.S.. I heard about it when living in Abu Dhabi. It’s fantastic. I couldn’t be more pleased with the results and the fact that it is a plan that I can follow for life. Thanks for stopping by!

  4. Once you get to that level of weight loss, it’s time to start comparing it to different units of comparison. Just think- you know those big water cooler bottles? They’re big and heavy, and a right pain in the arse to lift. But just think- you’ve nearly lost the equivalent of TWO of those!!!!!! That’s a mighty heroic achievement. And you know what that makes you? A Big Damn Hero. Now go watch Firefly if you’ve not already. 😉

Ps, boarding flight to Egypt in 2 hours! Xx

    • You rock, my friend… TWO WATER COOLER BOTTLES… WOW!
      I haven’t watched Firefly… I’ll see if I can download it.
YOU have a FANTASTIC time in Egypt! Check in if you can and we definitely will set a time to chat after you get back!!

  5. Wow – you have done so well. When I read the comment Charlotte left you about it being the equivalent of TWO water cooler refill bottles I am gobsmacked – that is AWESOME! Great work my friend!!

  6. You look AMAZING! Glad Vivien insisted you use that photo….. When you’ve got a figure like that, why not?!?!? I think your measurement changes say it all! I love your positivity and happiness. I read your blog throughout the day hoping some of the good vibes will rub off on me! LOL. xoxo

    • Oh Sonia, thank you 🙂 I’m still trying to break out of that fat girl mentality. It sticks like glue! You know the one.. “oh, can’t use that picture, oh, no no no!” It’s the support that keeps me going! And girl, you’ve lost a pound more than me 🙂 You’re rockin’ the Dukan too!

  7. Just wanted to say you look amazing- what a difference in 6 months. You look great in your jeans, I just tried my first pair of jeans on since 1996, a Uk14 and they went up easily but I want to wait to buy some when I have reached goal. Loved Charlotte comparing your weight loss to two of those water containers- I can’t pick up one! I went to the gym and picked up two 8kg hand weights of what i have lost and struggled! Keep going x

    • Thanks, Meg! Congrats on getting in YOUR jeans…. it feels GREAT, doesn’t it? Charlotte always says thought provoking things, and yesterday after reading her comparison I tried to lift just one of those containers… they are heavy!!! I’m glad I got rid of two of those 😀 Keep up the great job you’re doing! We’re eating our way to healthier selves!

  8. The before and after pics. tell it all. No words are needed. You are amazing and an inspiration to many. I cleaned out my closet. Taking all my jeans and slacks to Goodwill. Hadn’t measured in years and am so pleased With what the tape had to say. Can’t wait to shop. Now looking forward to trip to N.C, in May. ❤ Mom

  9. That is some amazing weight loss. Congratulations! The Dukan diet is not for me since I’m a vegetarian, but hopefully I’ll get there with the program I’m on. I’m so envious!

    • Thanks! I enjoy your posts and look forward to following your progress. There are some vegetarians on Dukan, but I imagine it must be next to impossible! Maybe the Paleo diet might work for you? I believe basically cutting out bread, pasta and rice is the key. And try reading Wheat Belly, a real eye opener! He has suggestions for vegetarians in his book, as well.
