Well, after writing my emotional blog yesterday, the door bell rang and 2 gentlemen from the Blind Man Massage parlor arrived at my door. My driver, Jerry, made the arrangements. Basically these men are legally blind and the government has paid for them to attend massage school. My massage was OK, mediocre at best, but relaxing. More like a Swedish Massage. Lucy, on the other hand was battered and shattered by the end of hers!
Then Jerry picked me up and took me to the PROPER mall. I didn’t know Hangzhou actually had one! And the grocery store is a PROPER grocery store! I got a PROPER turkey from the U.S. to make for Christmas dinner, and I’m looking forward to the fact that he won’t have his head stuck up his ass! 😀 They also had FF Greek Yogurt, so I don’t have to go to Shanghai or Hong Kong to get that anymore!
Breakfast: 2 tea eggs and 2 slices of ham
Lunch: Shashimi at the PROPER mall
Dinner: Stir-fried fish with onions and garlic stems
Snack: FF Greek yogurt with splenda and bran
Seemed like a long day on one hand, but not a day off on the other. I’m back to work today and I’m not happy about that… I need 2 days off in a row… Oh well, off to get dressed!

Is that typical of your job in China only getting one day off and not two day weekends? your blog makes me think we should consider another venture overseas. I am a teacher so it is quite an easy job to travel with, we did 5 years in London which is not quite the same as your OE experience because communication is no barrier although there is quite a bit of difference in culture it is not so dramatically different. Finding a PROPER supermarket sounds like bit of a life saver 🙂
Well done on the loss – you are well on track, even if they are just small losses, they will all add up before your trip!
Well, until this past week, I had Sunday and Monday off. Then last week it got changed, not sure why, but I don’t like it. Because yesterday was a busy day off, I don’t feel like I had a day off at all 😦
I have meeting today with my 2 bosses, hoping we can implement some changes… As my son says, no reason to live so far from home and be miserable… He’s got a point 🙂
There are tons of teachers here, but if you were to teach overseas I’d totally recommend the UAE… Good pay, great lifestyle! I could introduce you to a wonderful group of women there who are teachers or married to teachers, if you’d like.
Just read your beautiful tribute (posted yesterday) to your friend Julie. She sounds like an amazing woman — God bless you as you mourn her loss but celebrate her life…

Blind man massage —- only in china. Yes you do need 2 days off in a row. Health care industry never takes good care of it’s workers.
